Possible irreversible damage to the DPF may occur, requiring repair or replacement. Advise the customer that if following the diagnostic procedure for DTC P2463 in SI results in a DPF system malfunction NOT BEING found, the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) Service Regeneration SHOULD NOT BE CHARGED TO GM WARRANTY.
Try not to shut off the engine during DPF regeneration, it’s easy to see when it’s happening. Usually when sitting with car in neutral instant consumption is 0.3-0.6 L/h. When dpf regen is active, inst consumption is >2 L/h. Dpf regen takes about 20-25 min, and it should be done when driving.
We start from the point that while regenerating, the engine functions a bit differently. It consumes a lot more and produces a lot of heat. Even on low temperatures (5 degrees) the engine is warm very quickly, after only several minutes. The first symptom is visible on the real-time fuel use indicator. The engine just consumes a lot, going to
apparently it has something to do with ordinary diesel containing around 5 to 7% of biodiesel in it.Theory is during forced regeneration cycle, as against during passive regeneration [engine running hot enough to burn off soot deposits in the DPF]some of the extra diesel squirted in to the engine, gets past the piston rings and ends up diluting the engine oil.
However, even assuming perfect knowledge of the amount and distribution of the ash in the DPF, an increase in regeneration frequency by a factor of 1.6 over 240,000 miles is unavoidable, in the best case, due to the significant filter volume occupied by the ash and reduction in the DPF’s soot storage capacity [2667].
If the car starts a DPF regeneration, extend your journey if need be until it has finished the job (takes around 5-10 mins of driving, in my Alfa at least), and give it some beans to help it out
(Drivers 1, 6, 12, 16 and 22) have very simil ar NO x from DPF regeneration trips than those from normal trips. As a result, no statistically significant difference exists ( p = 4.70×10 -1
The DPF regeneration event led to the decrease of fuel economy and the increase of particle number, nitrogen oxides and carbon dioxides emission. Particle number emission factors were increased from approximately 10 9 #/km to 5 × 10 10 #/km during DPF regeneration. The average power output of the car was in the range of 14.5 kW–15.6 kW and
