Playing this game without VR will be bad I'm afraid. Half Life Alyx is easily one of my top games but without VR it wouldn't be good and levels like Jeff just wouldn't work with the traditional keyboard and mouse like presented in the video. The games encounters would also be far too easy with a keyboard and mouse as well.
Here’s the complete breakdown of all VR headsets which can play Half-Life: Alyx. HTC. Vive (original) Vive Pro; Vive Pro Eye; No, Half-Life: Alyx can only be played without VR controllers.
Post article >>. Half-Life: Alyx non VR mod (driver) - allows to play in Half-Life: Alyx without VR on keyboard and mouse. This method allows to complete the game and try out VR mechanics. Some moments will make sweat, but they are passable in this way.
Alyx is really the only 'story' game I got for VR rn, and I have a someone who wants to try vr, but I want it to be a rather immersive or a memorable first time for them, so I thought a story game would help get this effect. But they've never played a half life game (and I've never even played alyx lmao) could one still enjoy alyx without previous game knowledge?
But that problem seems to have been solved, as one of the game's players has succeeded in playing Half-Life: Alyx without a VR headset using some simple commands. Discovered by Tyler McVicker
It's a great system and I am very satisfied with it, I strongly recommend getting it unless you're really rich and have the money for an index because without a doubt the index is the absolute best system for alyx due to it's superior performance, hand tracking, pressure sensitivity, and higher resolution.
Thank you :) Half Life Alyx No VR mod. Google it. It's probably a terrible way to experience the game however. There is a mod in progress, but if it’s your first playthrough it will suck without vr, trust me. no, the "hl2 weapons in not vr" thing is just launching the game in -novr mode, which is just for technical testing stuff.
Half life Alyx did not use the #D virtual enviroment for much of anything outside of looks. There were like 3 physical puzzels, 2 of which were the same "Grab this wheel out of a bar" that really utilized the virtual reality gimic. Then you have the minigames that most people seemed to get aggravated with.
